Physiotherapy

ALFI Physiotherapy provides a full range of physiotherapy services from general orthopedics to cardio respiratory conditioning.

Our goal is to reduce your pain and encourage your healing to get you back to your normal living as quickly as possible. Additionally, we want to ensure that we work with you to take steps to prevent re-occurrence of your injuries

Acupuncture

Our trained acupuncturist uses this ancient Chinese technique to help treat a number of painful conditions such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, among others.

Through the repeated penetration of the skin by thin metallic needles, we work to correct imbalances of flow at points close to the skin and bring relief from pain and stiffness.

This is a highly customized treatment as the Acupuncturist works with each patient to identify the areas that are problematic and then gently stimulate them with the needles.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy as treatment helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic conditions. Massage therapy is very often an effective adjunct to other treatments, such as physiotherapy or acupuncture.

Most insurance plans cover the cost of massage therapy

Custom Foot Orthotics

An orthotic is a medical device concerned with the assessment of biomechanical abnormalities, and the correction of these biomechanics through the manufacturing of custom insoles for support and function. Custom foot orthotics can help with many painful and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs, feet and lower back. They help improve balance, accommodate foot abnormalities and control the lower limb positioning.

People who are active in sports may find custom orthotics helpful to increase endurance, strength and performance abilities. Individuals who are carrying more weight may find that orthotics relieve the additional stress that the extra weight puts on ligaments in their feet and legs

A biomechanical assessment and gait analysis is performed to determine if foot orthotics would benefit a client.

Craniofacial TMJ Therapy

A number of things can cause pain and problems in the head, face and jaw. These include everything from stress and trauma to grinding or clenching of teeth, arthritis, congenital issues or postural abnormalities.

We offer effective treatments to help you recover from craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ). We will work with you to identify the contributing factors and then prescribe therapies to reduce inflammation, restore function, and promote repair and regeneration of injured tissues.

Symptoms of these conditions include tooth pain or pain when chewing, dizziness, neck or throat pain, headaches or earaches, numbness of the face and head and clicking or grating sounds in the jaw joints.

Sports Injuries

Whether you are a professional athlete, an amateur athlete, or a recreational player, sports injuries can sideline you and keep you from participating in an activity that you enjoy.

We treat all sports-related injuries and conditions and will work with you to set up series of exercises and therapies to try to keep them from re-occurring.

We will focus on diagnosing and treating injuries that happen while you are engaged in sports or physical activities and design a customized program of treatment that will help you return to your normal active lifestyle as quickly as possible.

Vestibular and Balance Rehabilitation

If you suffer from frequent falls, vertigo, imbalance, dizziness, or migraines, you may be experiencing a problem with your vestibular system. It is the system that serves as your main balance system.

We can help you relieve your pain and return to your normal level of activity through our physiotherapy treatments.

It is important to receive proper therapy to avoid compounding problems that imbalance issues can create, including a tendency to fall and perhaps cause further injuries or at the least, to prohibit living a full and active life.
